Nanoha Returns in 2026: New Anime and Manga Mark 20 Years of the Franchise

The Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha franchise announces a new anime for July 2026, manga in publication, and broadcast of the movies on TV, celebrating 20 years.

**Nanoha Takamachi** is back on screen to celebrate two decades of magic and action. In this year of 2026, the iconic **Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha** franchise is preparing a triple comeback, with a new anime series, a regularly published manga, and the television broadcast of the movies. The official announcement came through the production’s social media, confirming that the new anime season is scheduled to premiere in **July 2026**. This release is one of the highlights of the series’ 20th-anniversary celebrations, which promises to excite the Brazilian otaku community with another adventure of the magical heroine.

The original creative core is back to ensure the essence of the franchise. **Masaki Tsuzuki**, co-creator of the universe, takes on the creation of the original story and the script for the new anime. Returning to direct is **Takayuki Hamana**, who previously helmed the movies ‘Reflection’ and ‘Detonation’. Meanwhile, character design and chief animation direction are handled by **Issei Aragaki**, with the original artwork credited to **Shūichi Kawakami**. This way, fans can expect the same visual and narrative quality that made the series famous.

## Ongoing Manga and Movies on TV

In addition to the anime, the franchise gains a new manga titled **Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha EXCEEDS**, which has been in publication since April 2025. The work is released on the *Suiyōbi no Sirius* service, from publisher Kodansha, with new chapters coming out on the first and third Wednesday of each month. The premise shows a 13-year-old Nanoha, energetically acting as a mage who helps everyone. Tsuzuki is also responsible for the original story concept of the manga, which features artwork by Shūichi Kawakami, ensuring a cohesive expansion of the universe.

The anniversary projects don’t stop there. Since October 2024, the public can watch on Japanese TV an edited-for-television version of the first two movies of the saga, ‘The MOVIE 1st’ and ‘The Movie 2nd A’s’, under the name **Lyrical Selection**. This initiative aims to both celebrate the legacy and present the condensed story to new fans. Therefore, 2026 solidifies itself as a year full of content for Nanoha followers, combining nostalgia and new developments in a grand celebration.
