Scum of the Brave: New Trailer Reveals Opening and Production Details

The anime adaptation of the manga Scum of the Brave gained new momentum this week with the release of its second promotional video. The production, which promises to shake up the anime scene in 2026, revealed for the first time the opening theme song, “Gun Powder”, performed by singer TOOBOE. Meanwhile, the series premiere is approaching, generating great anticipation among Brazilian fans who follow releases of the genre.
The video arrives as a gift for fans, offering a glimpse of the animation and the story’s dark tone. The direction is handled by Shinji Ushiro at studio OLM, the same behind hits like Pokémon. Furthermore, the production team features big names: Yoichi Kato on scripts, Rika Murakami on character design, and Kenichiro Suehiro on the soundtrack. Thus, the series promises a combination of visceral action and narrative depth.
Production Details and the Original Manga
In addition to the opening with TOOBOE, the anime will have the ending theme song “Mental Rental”, sung by Mulasaki Ima. To celebrate the arrival of the series, illustrator toi8, responsible for the visuals of the new light novel edition, created a special commemorative artwork. The original story, created by Rocket Shokai, began as a web novel in 2016 but gained fame as a manga starting in 2018 on the Comic Border platform.
The publication in light novel format, with revisions by the author and illustrations by toi8, is also underway. The first volume hits shelves in Japan on January 23rd, and the second follows on February 20th. In the plot, the story subverts the classic hero concept, focusing on protagonists considered “scum” or flawed. Therefore, the anime presents itself as a bold proposal for those seeking stories outside the traditional formula.
With all this activity, Scum of the Brave solidifies itself as one of the most anticipated releases of the first quarter of 2026. The combination of a talented team, a promising soundtrack, and an intriguing premise creates the perfect conditions for a potential success. Now, all that remains is to await the official premiere to see if the series will deliver all the power suggested by its trailers.
