Star Detective Precure! Reveals Cast and Premieres in February 2026

Star Detective Precure!, the highly anticipated 23rd main entry in the magical girl anime franchise, has just had its main cast, production team, and premiere date officially revealed. The new series, which promises an investigative plot with hints of time travel, is scheduled to begin airing in Japan on February 1st, 2026. Meanwhile, Brazilian fans can already prepare for another adventure in the Pretty Cure universe, which traditionally arrives in the country via streaming services.
The main story follows Anna Akechi, a second-year elementary school student who, in a surprising event, travels from the year 2027 back to 1999. In this past, she meets Mikuru Kobayashi, a classmate who dreams of becoming a great detective. Together, they witness the crimes of the “Phantom Thieves,” who steal people’s valuable belongings. Because of this, they decide to transform into the powerful detective Precure, using their deductive reasoning to protect everyone’s smiles. In this way, the series renews the classic formula by adding an element of mystery and investigation.
Cast and Production Behind the New Heroines
The lead roles are played by Hikari Senga, who will bring Cure Answer (Anna Akechi) to life, and Kaede Hondo, who will portray Cure Mystic (Mikuru Kobayashi). In addition to them, Nao Tōyama will be the mysterious Cure Arcana Shadow, a character who works for the Phantom Thieves, despite being a Pretty Cure. The series is directed by Kōji Kawasaki, who previously worked on “Hugtto! Precure,” while the scripts are supervised by Isao Murayama, a veteran of “Witchy Precure!”. With this experienced team, expectations for a captivating narrative are high.
On the musical front, the opening theme “Heart ni Hint! Detective Precure!” will be performed by Ami Ishii. The ending theme, called “Naze? Nazo?! ANSWER,” will be performed by Akane Kumada and Yūka Masui. The production is a collaboration between ABC Animation, ADK Emotions, and the renowned Toei Animation, ensuring the franchise’s characteristic visual quality. Although an official release in Brazil has not yet been confirmed, the previous series, “You and Idol Precure♪,” is available on Crunchyroll, suggesting a similar path for this new season.
The release of “Star Detective Precure!” in January 2026 reinforces the continued vitality of one of Japan’s longest-running magical girl franchises. The introduction of the detective and time travel themes seems to be a strategic move to attract both loyal fans and new viewers. Therefore, fans can look forward to February with the certainty that the magical heroines are back, ready to unravel mysteries and protect the future with plenty of heart and sharp reasoning.
