Final Fantasy 14 for Switch 2 and 2026 News Confirmed

Final Fantasy 14 received a series of exciting announcements for 2026, thanks to director Naoki Yoshida’s traditional New Year’s questionnaire, known as Yoshi-P. The producer officially confirmed that a version of the MMORPG for the Nintendo Switch 2 is in development, marking the game’s debut on Big N’s consoles. Meanwhile, fans playing in Brazil and around the world also received new details about the upcoming high-level content, including the long-awaited “meta”-themed Ultimate, promised for this year. These revelations, made at the end of last year, serve as a treasure map for players, who now have much to look forward to beyond patch 7.5 and a possible new expansion at the end of 2026.
While answering community questions, Yoshi-P detailed how the team plans to bring more customization and quality of life to Eorzea. Due to high player demand, he promised more glamour slots shortly after the housing system update, a long-standing request from the Brazilian and global community. Additionally, the director mentioned plans for character animation customization, a major redesign in character creation, and even a new equipment design contest, showing that the game’s evolution goes far beyond new stories and dungeons.
Beastmaster, gil sinks, and the distant future
However, not all news will arrive quickly. The highly anticipated Beastmaster class, for example, is still in a development stage that requires patience. Yoshi-P revealed that new details, likely with images, will only come in the next official Live Letter. On the other hand, to balance the game’s economy, the team is discussing implementing new “gil sinks,” mechanisms to remove currency from the game and control inflation. This way, Eorzea’s economic health should remain stable for all players.
Finally, looking at a more distant horizon, the producer also made a special note about the mounts from the collaboration with Nier: Automata. He acknowledged fans’ desire for more crossover items, leaving a question in the air that excited Shadowbringers fans: could this be a sign for a new allied raid in the chaotic style of the pact? Regardless of the answer, it is clear that 2026 will be a year of major movements for Final Fantasy 14, solidifying its place as one of the most relevant and audience-attentive MMORPGs.
