The Moon on a Rainy Night: Anime Announced with Visual and Team for 2026

The Moon on a Rainy Night, a manga by Kuzushiro, will receive an anime adaptation in 2026, as announced by REMOW this Tuesday (January 6th). The production will be directed by Tomoe Makino, known for Aharen-san wa Hakarenai, with scripts by Shōgo Yasukawa, from Food Wars!. Scheduled to premiere later this year, the anime will be produced by Studio CompTown, promising fidelity to the original work, which already has 11 volumes in Japan. Thus, fans can expect a careful and detailed adaptation.
Additionally, author Kuzushiro highlighted in an interview the team’s dedication to the adaptation, from the characters’ expressions to the settings. Therefore, the project’s relevance goes beyond a simple media conversion, aiming to capture the emotional essence of the story. Meanwhile, the manga continues to be published by Kodansha, with the next volume releasing on January 20th, keeping the audience’s interest warm for the anime’s premiere.
Production Details and Author’s Trajectory
Ayumi Nishibata, responsible for character design in Otherside Picnic, will take on the same role in this anime, ensuring a cohesive aesthetic vision. Kuzushiro, in turn, already has other manga adaptations, such as A Mangaka’s Weirdly Wonderful Workplace, which premiered in October 2025 and is available on Crunchyroll. However, The Moon on a Rainy Night stands out for its introspective narrative, which should resonate with fans of slice-of-life dramas. Thus, the author solidifies her presence in the anime world, with stories that blend sensitivity and everyday life.
The announcement also included an illustrated collaboration with the A Mangaka’s Weirdly Wonderful Workplace franchise, strengthening the connection between Kuzushiro’s works. Therefore, Brazilian fans can follow the news through platforms like Crunchyroll, which usually broadcasts anime simultaneously with Japan. With a talented team and the author’s vision, 2026 promises to be an exciting year for fans of faithful and well-produced adaptations.
