Avowed, Xbox-exclusive RPG, arrives on PS5 in February with new content

Avowed, the first-person action RPG developed by Obsidian Entertainment, is about to break platform barriers. Scheduled for release on PlayStation 5 on February 17, 2026, the title, which was originally launched for Xbox Series X/S and PC in 2025, is expanding its reach. This move comes at a crucial moment, just one day before the game’s first anniversary, and is published by Microsoft itself, which acquired the developer in 2018. The announcement was made during the New Game+ Showcase, solidifying a trend observed in this year of 2026, in which the Redmond giant has been bringing more of its games to the competing ecosystem.
The arrival on PS5, however, is not a simple port. Obsidian confirmed it will release a major anniversary update for all platforms simultaneously. This way, PS5 players will receive the complete game, with all post-launch content already included, while fans on other platforms will get new features for free. The standard edition is available for pre-order on the PlayStation Store for R$ 250, while the Premium edition, which includes a digital art book, soundtrack, and cosmetic items, costs R$ 300. So far, there are no plans for a physical version.
What does the major anniversary update bring?
The content expansion is the big highlight for all players. The main new feature is the New Game Plus mode, which allows starting a new journey while keeping all the equipment from the previous character, even though they revert to level 1 to face modified enemies. Additionally, the update adds a much-requested photo mode, three new playable races, the ability to change the character’s appearance at any time, and even a new weapon type. These additions aim to address some of the criticisms received at the time of launch, when the game received average scores, such as GameSpot’s 6/10 review, which pointed to promising combat but limited by a scarcity of resources.
Avowed is set in the same world as Pillars of Eternity, Eora, and puts the player in charge of investigating a mysterious plague, using a mix of weapons and magic. Its arrival on PS5 is another chapter in Microsoft’s recent strategy of publishing games on multiple platforms, following in the footsteps of Grounded, Hi-Fi Rush, and Forza Horizon 5. Therefore, while PS5 owners prepare to explore the Living Lands next month, the Brazilian gaming community awaits to see if these new features will be enough to win over an even larger audience and rekindle interest in Obsidian’s adventure.
