Code Vein II Gets Gameplay Trailer and Character Creator Demo

This week, Bandai Namco revealed an extensive eight-minute trailer for Code Vein II, the highly anticipated sequel to the post-apocalyptic action RPG. Meanwhile, the big news for Brazilian fans is the announcement of a demo focused on the character creator, arriving on platforms later this January 2026. The demo will be released first for PC via Steam on the 22nd, followed by the launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on the 23rd. This move is a smart strategy by the publisher to generate hype and allow players to customize their Revenants before the main adventure.

The trailer focuses on the Sunken Pylon dungeon and details the combat system, which remains faithful to the formula of the first title. Thus, players will continue to drain blood from enemies to unlock abilities, in addition to fighting with the famous Blood Codes. Furthermore, the gameplay shows the use of unique weapons and equipment, called Jails, and interaction with Partner allies. It’s worth noting that each Partner has distinct abilities and their own narrative connections, promising to enrich the experience with side stories and more tactical combat.

The Legacy of the First Game and Extra Details

To understand the excitement, it’s good to remember that the original Code Vein debuted in Japan in September 2019, after a delay from its initial release scheduled for 2018. The game won over fans with its dark anime aesthetic and gameplay reminiscent of the famous ‘soulslike’ games. The production has a strong connection to the Japanese entertainment universe, as the studio ufotable (of Demon Slayer) was responsible for the animated opening cinematic. The band VAMPS, in turn, performed the theme song “Underworld,” adding an epic tone to the experience.

The Code Vein universe has also expanded to other media, such as the manga CODE VEIN ‐Memory echoes-, released by Kotoni Shiroishi in Dengeki PlayStation magazine in 2018. Therefore, with the arrival of this demo and the detailed trailer, Bandai Namco is consistently fueling anticipation for the sequel. Thus, players will have a practical sample of what awaits them, being able to experiment with character creation and speculate about customization and build possibilities for when the full game is released.
