Crunchyroll Announces Dubbing Cast and Simulcast Premiere for Anime Sentenced to Be a Hero

Crunchyroll revealed, in January 2026, the complete cast for the English dub of the first season of the anime Sentenced to Be a Hero. The news, which excites Brazilian anime fans, came with the confirmation that the platform will have a simultaneous premiere of the episodes, meaning they arrive in the catalog on the same day they air in Japan. This way, the international audience does not have to wait to follow the journey of the condemned hero Kenshin Yagami.
The official premiere of the series took place on January 3rd, with a special 60-minute episode. However, due to a delay from the original October date, regular episode number 2 will only air this Thursday, the 15th. Therefore, from now on, new chapters will be released every Thursday, both in Japan and on Crunchyroll. This simultaneous release strategy is a major differentiator for subscribers, who can follow the series in real-time and without spoilers.
Cast and Production Behind the Series
The direction of the anime, produced by Studio KAI, is in the hands of Hiroyuki Takashima, known for his work on Mushoku Tensei. Meanwhile, the scripts are supervised by Kenta Ihara, responsible for hits like Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy-. The English dub cast for the first episode includes names like Abigail Blythe, Kelly Greenshield, and Peyton Howard, along with an extensive list of talents that promise to bring the characters to life in a unique way. The opening theme “Kill the Noise” was handled by the band SPYAIR, adding even more energy to the production.
The story, based on a Japanese light novel that began in 2020, already has seven physical volumes and a manga adaptation. Yen Press, by the way, has already announced that it will bring the manga to English starting in June 2026, expanding the work’s reach in the West. With a premise involving a hero being punished for his excessive power, the series promises to balance intense action and character development, a combo that usually pleases fans of the genre a lot.
