Resident Evil Requiem and Nioh 3: February Brings the Biggest Releases of 2026

February 2026 means business. The month holds the triumphant return of two giant franchises: Capcom finally delivers Resident Evil Requiem (the long-awaited RE9), while Team Ninja sets feudal Japan ablaze with the open world of Nioh 3. If you've been waiting for the right moment to dust off your console or unbox that new hardware, the time is now.

The Return to Raccoon City in Resident Evil Requiem

The biggest highlight of the month is, without a doubt, Resident Evil Requiem. Capcom decided to celebrate the franchise's 30th anniversary by going back to its roots — literally. The game takes us back to the ruins of Raccoon City, a city everyone thought had been wiped off the map.

The story shares the spotlight between newcomer Grace Ashcroft (daughter of Alyssa from RE Outbreak) and veteran Leon S. Kennedy, now in his 50s but still a master at surviving chaos. The title promises to blend dense psychological horror with the visceral action that made the series famous. Resident Evil Requiem arrives on February 27 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and will be one of the major launch titles for the Nintendo Switch 2.

Nioh 3 and the Evolution to Open World

Early in the month, on February 6, fans of Soulslike games have a date with Nioh 3. Team Ninja decided to take a risk and turned the journey into an open-world action RPG. This time, we follow Tokugawa Takechiyo in a dark version of Japan, where hordes of Yokai rule everything.

The combat system has been refined with the dual-style mechanic, allowing you to instantly switch between the brute strength of a Samurai and the lethal agility of a Ninja. If you enjoy intense challenges and a fantastic historical setting, Nioh 3 is a must-have on PS5 and PC.

Other Highlights You Can't Miss

Besides the two giants, February's calendar is packed:

  • Dragon Quest VII Reimagined (February 5): The PS1 classic gets new life with modern graphics and gameplay improvements.

  • Mario Tennis Fever (February 12): The Switch 2's first major sports title, promising the largest character roster in the series' history.

  • Yakuza Kiwami 3 (February 12): Kazuma Kiryu's story in Okinawa finally gets the remake treatment it deserved.

Get your wallet and hard drive ready, because February 2026 will demand time (and a lot of stamina) from any gamer.
