NHK confirmed that the broadcast of episode 17 of the third season has been postponed by three weeks due to coverage of the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. With the change, the episode that was scheduled for February 7 is now expected to premiere on February 28.
This interruption occurs because the Japanese broadcaster prioritizes broadcasts of the competitions in Italy, which take place between February 6 and 22. Meanwhile, the anime production team used the announcement to release a new trailer and an exclusive promotional image. The material focuses on the final phase of the Modern World arc, keeping the audience engaged during the forced hiatus.
Schedule Changes and Production
The third season of Yoshitoki Ōima's work is planned to have 22 episodes, two more than the previous seasons. Due to this delay caused by the Olympics, the season finale is now expected to occur on March 14, 2026. However, the voice cast and technical team remain the same, with Studio Drive leading the animation in partnership with STUDIO MASSKET.
It's worth noting that the anime has already faced unforeseen events recently. In December 2025, coverage of an earthquake interrupted the original broadcast of episode 53, which only aired in full in January of this year. Therefore, the production team is accustomed to adjusting the schedule as national and global events interfere with NHK's programming.
