Hytale’s troubled launch with downloads freezing for thousands of players

The long-awaited release of Hytale into early access, which happened this Tuesday, January 13, 2026, was marked by technical problems that frustrated thousands of players. The developer studio Hypixel Studios, known for the success of Minecraft, finally released the game; however, the high demand immediately overloaded the download servers. As a result, many fans, including a legion in Brazil, found their installation progress stuck, often stopping at 25%, which generated a wave of complaints on forums like Reddit.
This setback is significant because Hypixel had already announced about 1 million players eager for the premiere. The company even recommended downloading the launcher a day in advance to avoid congestion, but the strategy was not enough. Consequently, the moment of celebration turned into a frustrating experience for a considerable portion of the community, which had been waiting for the title for years. The situation is a classic example of the challenges high-profile releases face in the digital world.
Community attempts and developer silence
While the servers were under stress, players tried everything to solve the problem on their own. In online communities, the most widespread solution was to reinstall the launcher or restart the download multiple times, rather than waiting for it to unlock on its own. However, as of the time of this publication, Hypixel Studios has still not issued an official solution or a detailed statement about the root cause of the crashes, whether it’s a patch issue or purely the extreme load on the servers.
It is important to remember, however, that Hytale is in “early access.” As such, setbacks and bugs were expected as part of the development process open to the public. The expectation is that, as the first players manage to complete the download, the pressure on the infrastructure will decrease and the problem will resolve itself. Still, this episode serves as a trial by fire for Hypixel’s communication with its fan base, which now awaits answers and improvements.
