Kamen Rider Announces New Film with Countdown to 55th Anniversary

Toei has just started the countdown for a new cinematic project in the Kamen Rider franchise. Scheduled to arrive on January 27, 2026, the official announcement will be made through a special website created by the production company, marking a crucial celebration: the 55th anniversary of the iconic Japanese hero. This initiative aims to celebrate over five decades of stories, which have won fans all over the world, including a legion of Brazilian fans who have followed the adventures of the masked vigilante since the days of the old tokusatsu series.
The reveal is scheduled for noon Japan time, which means that, due to the time zone, fans in Brazil will be able to follow the announcement on the evening of the 26th. This countdown strategy generates great anticipation within the community, as the franchise is currently in a fertile period with recent adaptations. In this way, Toei not only celebrates the glorious past but also points to the future of the Kamen Rider universe, demonstrating its commitment to renewing the saga for new generations.
The Expanding Universe of Kamen Rider
This new project comes at a time of great activity for the franchise. Still in 2023, theaters received Shin Kamen Rider, the acclaimed director Hideaki Anno’s vision for the hero. Meanwhile, the spin-off Fūto Tantei, which serves as a direct sequel to the series Kamen Rider W (from 2009), has taken on a life of its own. With scripts by Riku Sanjō, one of the original writers, and art by Masaki Satou, the manga has already spawned the anime FUUTO PI in 2022 and even an animated film in November 2024, focusing on the origins of Kamen Rider Skull.
Therefore, the January 2026 announcement is not an isolated event. On the contrary, it fits into a larger plan of multimedia expansion. The lingering question is: will this new film be a direct continuation of a recent story, a reboot, or a celebration that brings together multiple generations of Riders? The answer, however, will have to wait until the end of the countdown. Thus, Brazilian fans can prepare for another dose of action and heroes, reinforcing the legacy of one of Japan’s most enduring and beloved franchises.
