Love Through a Prism: Yōko Kamio’s New Anime Gets Video on Netflix

Love Through a Prism, the new original anime by Yōko Kamio, creator of the classic Boys Over Flowers (Hana Yori Dango), has received its first preview video on Netflix. The platform released a sneak peek this Saturday, January 4, 2026, revealing the atmosphere of Saint Thomas Academy of Arts, the main setting of the story. The video, which is already available, offers no less than nine audio options and 16 subtitle options, showcasing the production’s care for a global release. This initiative marks the beginning of the countdown to the full series launch, which is already one of the most anticipated titles of the year in Netflix’s animation catalog.
The project is significant not only for the new story but also for the creative weight behind it. Yōko Kamio, who holds a Guinness World Record for the success of Boys Over Flowers, is deeply involved in the production. She is responsible for the original story, character designs, and also co-writes the scripts alongside Saki Fujii. This way, fans of the author can expect a narrative with the same dramatic and romantic essence that made her famous. The direction is handled by Kazuto Nakazawa, known for works like B: The Beginning, while the animation is being produced by the renowned Wit Studio, ensuring visual quality.
A Franchise That Expands
The success of Love Through a Prism is already multiplying even before the anime’s official premiere. Additionally, the story will also come to life in comics, with a manga adaptation by Maki Minami, author of Special A. The publication is scheduled to begin on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ service as early as next January 8. Meanwhile, the soundtrack promises to shine with the theme song “star flower,” performed by the band Chilli Beans. This simultaneous expansion into different media demonstrates the confidence and potential the industry sees in this new universe created by Kamio.
Yōko Kamio’s legacy, of course, remains more alive than ever. The famous Boys Over Flowers, which inspired adaptations worldwide – including the Taiwanese drama Meteor Garden and the 2018 Chinese version – will even have a new musical by the Takarazuka Troupe in 2026. Therefore, the release of Love Through a Prism is not just the beginning of a new series, but the latest chapter in the career of one of the most influential authors in the shōjo genre. Netflix’s bet on this title reinforces the platform as a central hub for anime fans, bringing original productions with established talents directly to the Brazilian audience.
