Magnum: New Marvel Series Gets Trailer and Premieres on Disney+ in January

Marvel stirred up the beginning of 2026 with the official release of the trailer for its new series, “Magnum”. Scheduled to premiere on January 27th on Disney+, the production arrives with eight episodes and promises to explore the behind-the-scenes of Hollywood from a unique perspective within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). With filming set to begin later this month, the series is set in Los Angeles and features 39-year-old actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in the lead role of Simon Williams, an aspiring actor searching for the big break that could launch his career.
The plot gains relevance not only for expanding the heroes’ universe but also for offering a sharp and human view of the entertainment industry. Therefore, the series mixes action with engaging drama. As a result of meeting the washed-up actor Trevor Slattery, played by Ben Kingsley, Simon discovers that the legendary director Von Kovak is remaking the classic “Magnum.” Thus, the two actors, at opposite stages of their careers, embark on a determined quest for roles that could redefine their lives.
Two Worlds Colliding: Fiction and Reality
The major narrative move of “Magnum” is precisely this fusion. Meanwhile, in the comics, the character Simon Williams, introduced in 1964, possesses super strength and the ability to fly. However, the series chooses to focus on his human origin and daily struggles before any powers. Furthermore, the story promises to connect this grounded drama with the established mythology of the MCU, as the character has gone from being a henchman for Baron Zemo to a founding member of the West Coast Avengers. In other words, fans can expect both an introspective look and seeds for future crossovers.
With a heavyweight cast and a premise that diverges from traditional superhero productions, “Magnum” emerges as a bold bet by Marvel for 2026. Still, the lingering question is whether the audience will connect with a hero who first fights for fame in Hollywood before facing cosmic villains. The answer arrives at the end of the month when all episodes premiere simultaneously on the platform, offering an immersive marathon for Brazilian fans.
