Manga Kaijū Jieitai Enters Final Arc in 2026

The action and survival manga Kaijū Jieitai, created by Junya Inoue, has officially entered its final arc. Scheduled for completion in 2026, the work that narrates a global battle against colossal monsters reaches a decisive moment for fans who have followed the saga since its launch almost six years ago. The series, which migrated to the digital magazine Comic Bunch Kai in 2024, has already accumulated 21 published physical volumes, with the most recent one released in December of last year.
The central plot places humanity in a hyper-realistic struggle for survival after an underwater landslide causes a devastating tsunami in the Pacific Ocean. Thus, the story revolves around search and destroy operations against giant creatures, offering a unique blend of science fiction and military strategy. Therefore, the news of the final arc is especially relevant for the Brazilian audience, fans of action anime and manga, who avidly consume this type of content on platforms like Crunchyroll.
Manga’s Trajectory and Legacy
Originally launched in May 2020 in the Monthly Comic @Bunch magazine, the work is a bet by author Junya Inoue, already known for the series Btooom!. Additionally, the studio Hisekutta and artist Seiichi Shirato also receive credits for contributions to the work. The transition to the digital format in 2024 reflects a market trend, seeking greater reach and adaptation to new consumption habits. However, physical publication remains strong, with the printed volumes being a sales success.
The impact of Kaijū Jieitai goes beyond the pages, as the anime adaptation of Btooom! in 2012 showed Inoue’s potential for captivating stories. Although there is still no official confirmation for an animated adaptation of this new series, the manga’s conclusion often opens doors for this type of project. Thus, fans can remain optimistic about, perhaps, seeing the epic battles against kaiju come to life on screen in the near future.
