Mudang: Two Hearts, Splinter Cell-style game, faces problems

The highly anticipated Mudang: Two Hearts, an action and stealth game announced in 2025 with strong inspiration from Splinter Cell, is facing a crisis that puts its future in doubt at the beginning of 2026. Developed by the Korean studio EVR Studio, the title promised to bring back the thrill of stealth spies to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox later this year. However, due to recent reports of mass layoffs and lack of funding, the project, which had already accumulated 100,000 wishlists, appears to be in troubled waters. The situation is critical because investors expect the release by the end of March, which coincides with the end of the company’s fiscal year.
As a result of the financial difficulties, the developer’s official website is down, while the last significant communication on social media dates back to August 2025. Since then, the silence has fueled speculation among the more than 2,300 members of its Discord server. Additionally, reports based on a Korean tracking site indicate that EVR Studio’s staff plummeted from over a hundred to just 22 people. Despite this, public profiles of leaders such as CEO Yongki Yoon still list their positions as current, creating a contradictory and concerning scenario for fans.
What is known about the development
The last major development update, shared last August, showed the team focused on stability testing and game balancing. At the time, EVR Studio justified a possible delay in the next development diary due to these internal tests, reinforcing its commitment to quality. On the other hand, the sudden digital blackout and rumors of staff cuts paint a very different picture months later. In other words, the promise of an imminent release for March 2026 now seems extremely optimistic, if not unrealistic, given the revealed obstacles.
Therefore, the Brazilian gaming community, always attentive to titles that revive classics like Splinter Cell, is following the situation with apprehension. Thus, it remains to wait for an official statement from the developer to clarify whether Mudang: Two Hearts will be able to overcome this turbulence or if it will become yet another ambitious project swallowed by market difficulties. The story serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by independent studios, even those with a clear vision and an eager audience.
