New manga by Hiromasa Okujima, Serial-san, premieres in February 2026

The renowned manga artist Hiromasa Okujima, known for works that have received anime and live-action adaptations, has just announced his next project. The new series, titled Serial-san, is confirmed to premiere on February 25, 2026, in the magazine Grand Jump Mucha, published by Shueisha. Thus, Brazilian fans can already prepare for another creation by the author, whose previous work, Baban Baban Ban Vampire, arrived on Netflix’s catalog at the beginning of this year, 2025. The premiere will receive special treatment, with a color opening page and, moreover, the honor of gracing the cover of the edition.
This release reinforces a very productive moment for Okujima, who maintains other series in publication. Meanwhile, another of his creations, Katei Kyōshi no Kishi Knight Desu., will receive a live-action adaptation premiering in January. The author’s popularity in Brazil has grown thanks to the accessibility of his works on streaming services, which should generate anticipation for this new story. Additionally, his approach to narratives that mix comedy and supernatural elements has won over a loyal audience, who now await to see what the premise of Serial-san will be.
Author’s trajectory and previous works
Hiromasa Okujima is not a new name for manga enthusiasts. He already has an established career with successes like Bad Boys, Happy Home, licensed in English by Viz Media, and the series Baban Baban Ban Vampire. The latter, in fact, had its 12th volume published in November and, as a result, has become a successful multimedia franchise. Therefore, the announcement of Serial-san comes at a time of high visibility for the creator, suggesting that publishers are betting on his potential to engage readers.
Scheduled to premiere by the end of the first quarter of 2026, the new work promises to shake up the scene. The fact that the story will be published in Grand Jump Mucha, a magazine known for hosting popular titles, is another indication of its ambitions. Thus, fans can expect a narrative that should follow the author’s characteristic humorous and dynamic style, but always with the potential to surprise. The question remains: will Serial-san be able to repeat the success of its predecessors and, perhaps, also secure a screen adaptation?
