PS2 Classic Returns: Ghost Master Resurrection Arrives on PS5 and Surprises Fans

One of the most underrated gems of the 128-bit era is about to get a new lease on life. The developer Empire of the Dead officially announced today the release of Ghost Master: Resurrection, a complete remake of the strategy and “terror tycoon” classic originally launched in 2003. The new version, exclusive to the current generation, promises to revitalize the franchise on PlayStation 5 with 4K graphics and modernized mechanics, taking full advantage of Sony’s hardware power.
The Return of Ghosts to PS5
For those unfamiliar, the original game put the player in the role of a Ghost Master, whose mission was to allocate spirits, poltergeists and hauntings in houses to terrorize the residents (the “mortals”) and force them to flee. Ghost Master: Resurrection keeps this addictive premise, described by many as an “inverted The Sims”, but now built on Unreal Engine 5.
Developers have confirmed that the title will feature Ray Tracing for dynamic spectral lighting and intensive use of the DualSense controller’s tactile feedback, allowing the player to “feel” the psychic resistance of the victims. In addition to the classic Gravenville scenarios recreated, the remake will include new levels, unprecedented ghosts and an online shared haunt creation mode.
Nostalgia and Technical Innovation
The announcement took the gaming community by surprise and quickly became one of the most talked-about topics on social media. Nostalgia surrounding the PlayStation 2 library continues to be a strong sales driver, and the choice to revive a cult, but forgotten IP (Intellectual Property) demonstrates the market’s interest in diversifying the genres available on the console.
If you are a fan of games that challenge the intellect, it’s worth paying attention. The release date for Ghost Master: Resurrection is scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.
