Samurai Troopers gets new series in 2026 with Nasti’s voice actress revealed

Samurai Troopers is back in full force in early 2026. The classic 90s franchise gets a new sequel titled Yoroi Shin Den Samurai Troopers, which has just revealed the voice actress for the anticipated return of the character Nasti Yagyu. The chosen one to bring the commander of the Special Defense Task Force to life was Sayaka Kinoshita, replacing Kaori Kusakabe, who played the character in the original series over 35 years ago. Scheduled to premiere later this year, the new production from Sunrise promises to reconnect an entire generation of Brazilian fans with the samurai warriors, while introducing the saga to a new audience.
The new series, set in the current Shinjuku district of Tokyo, follows five young people who wear special armor (Yoroi Gear) to face the demon emperor Arago. Therefore, the reveal of the cast and production details is a significant event for the otaku community in Brazil, especially because the original anime, known as Ronin Warriors in the US, was a landmark on cable TV. Additionally, Crunchyroll has already confirmed it will stream the series, ensuring easy access for the Brazilian audience.
Production and Release Details
Meanwhile, fans who prefer physical media can already plan ahead. The production will have a total of 12 episodes, divided into two Blu-ray volumes arriving in Japan in April and May. Thus, Volume 1 will be released on April 22, followed by Volume 2 on May 27. The direction is handled by Yōichi Fujita, known for Gintama, with the script supervised by Shōgo Mutō, from Crows Zero. The design team is a highlight, bringing together talents from projects like Love Live! and Mobile Suit Gundam to create the visuals of the heroes and villains.
The soundtrack also promises to be emotional, with the band blank paper on the opening theme “YOAKE” (Dawn) and the group ONE OR EIGHT on the first ending, “POWER”. Therefore, the sequel is not just a nostalgic return, but a modern production with a heavyweight team. For the Brazilian fan, who followed the original series through DVDs released in the past or via streaming, this is one of the major anime releases to follow in 2026.
