Scooby-Doo! to Get Anime Shorts Format in 2027

Warner Bros. announced, during an event held in Brazil in November 2025, the production of Scooby-Doo! Gokko, a new series of short anime-style episodes scheduled to premiere in 2027. Focusing on the iconic characters Scooby-Doo and Shaggy, the production promises to bring the mysteries and comedy of the classic franchise to a new animation style, following the success of a similar project with Tom & Jerry. The initiative aims to expand the universe of the cowardly dog and his best friend, exploring a format that has been winning over audiences in Japan and now, also in Brazil.
The project follows the successful model of Tom & Jerry Gokko, a series of anime shorts produced by Warner Bros. Japan. Meanwhile, Fanworks, the studio behind hits like Aggretsuko, will be responsible for the main animation, with assistance from Studio Nanahoshi. However, Warner has not yet officially announced which studio will handle the animation for Scooby-Doo! Gokko, generating anticipation among fans. Thus, the company is betting on a continuous release format, with a new short episode each month, just as is already happening with the famous cat and mouse series.
Production Details and Expectations
The production of Scooby-Doo! Gokko reinforces Warner Bros.’s strategy of adapting its classic Western properties to the anime style, a market in rapid global expansion. On the other hand, the announcement made on Brazilian soil was no coincidence, as the country is one of the largest consumers of Japanese animation and Scooby-Doo franchise content in the world. Furthermore, the short format facilitates quick consumption, ideal for streaming platforms and social media, where the Brazilian audience is very active.
With the premiere scheduled for 2027, there is still a long production road ahead. Despite this, the announcement has already heated up the fan community, which eagerly awaits more details about the visual style, the tone of the stories, and, of course, the voice acting. Therefore, this new chapter in the Scooby-Doo story promises to be an interesting cultural fusion, combining the nostalgia of one of the greatest mystery franchises with the characteristic aesthetics and pace of anime, creating a unique experience for audiences of all ages in Brazil and around the world.
