Prime Video will launch the highly anticipated series Blade Runner 2099 on November 25th in over 240 countries and territories. The official announcement came during the production's panel at San Diego Comic-Con, accompanied by the release of the first teaser trailer. The platform will make all eight episodes of the season available at once in its catalog.
Human Hunt and Replicants: The Plot of Blade Runner 2099
The story is set exactly 50 years after the events of the film Blade Runner 2049 (2017), presenting a dystopian Los Angeles dominated by androids. The plot follows Cora (Hunter Schafer), a fugitive forced to become a Blade Runner – the name given to specialized police officers tasked with hunting down rogue replicants.
To complete her mission, Cora must join forces with Olwen (Michelle Yeoh), a veteran Blade Runner who is also a replicant nearing the end of her service life. Together, they attempt to locate a threat that puts the city at risk of imminent destruction, all while dealing with the mutual distrust between humans and synthetic beings.
Star-Studded Cast and Executive Production by Ridley Scott
With executive production by the original director of the 1982 film, Ridley Scott, the series is helmed by showrunners Silka Luisa, Andrew Kosove, and Broderick Johnson. The series has been in development at the studio since 2021.
In addition to Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer, the cast includes Dimitri Abold (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes), Lewis Gribben (Somewhere Boy), Daniel Rigby, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim, Matthew Needham, and Tom Burke.

The franchise's universe originated with the book Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, written by Philip K. Dick and adapted by Ridley Scott into the science fiction cinema classic.
