Sound! Euphonium, the beloved anime franchise about a school band, finally reaches its long-awaited climax in this year of 2026. Kyoto Animation announced that the first part of the conclusion, titled “The Final Movie Part 1,” premieres in Japanese theaters on April 24. The production will mark the endpoint of a decade of stories, with the narrative following the exciting musical and personal journey of the students. With an initial screening scheduled in 200 Japanese theaters, the film promises a conclusion worthy of the fans who have followed the series since 2015, offering a true closure to the arcs developed over the years.
The feature film is directed by Taichi Ogawa and supervised by chief director Tatsuya Ishihara, who has guided KyoAni’s production for the entire decade. To create a definitive cinematic experience, the team spared no effort: new scripts were written by Jukki Hanada and several new scenes were added, including musical performances never seen in the TV series. In this way, the studio seeks to honor the title of “Final Movie” and deliver a work that satisfies both casual viewers and the most devoted fans, who have eagerly awaited this moment since the end of the third season in 2024.

Sound! Euphonium’s journey began in April 2015, with its first anime season. Since then, the franchise expanded into films and sequels, always focusing on the growth of protagonist Kumiko and her band club colleagues. However, the premiere of this film in 2026 represents more than just a new release; it is the materialization of a promise of conclusion made to the fans. On the other hand, Kyoto Animation demonstrates its resilience and dedication to art, maintaining the high visual and narrative standard that made the series renowned, even after the challenges faced by the studio.
The soundtrack, always a fundamental pillar of the work, receives special emphasis in this final production. The theme song will be performed by the band TRUE, while the original score composition remains in the hands of Akito Matsuda, with cooperation from the renowned Senzoku Gakuen College of Music. Thus, viewers can expect an immersive and emotional auditory experience, which perfectly complements the studio’s meticulous animation. Although the release date in Brazil has not yet been confirmed, Crunchyroll, which distributed the previous season globally, is the strongest bet to bring this final chapter to Brazilian fans soon.
