The Witcher 3 May Get Expansion in Zerrikania in 2026, Rumors Say

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt may be about to receive a big surprise for Brazilian fans, with rumors pointing to a new expansion set in Zerrikania still in this year of 2026. According to an old report from IGN Poland recently recovered, developer CD Projekt Red would have expressed strong interest in taking the witcher Geralt of Rivia to this desert and unexplored region of the east, a bold move that would happen a decade after the release of “Blood & Wine”. This possibility gains strength due to an internal need of the company, as industry analysts, cited by Eurogamer, suggest that the studio needs to generate significant revenue in 2026 to meet the bonus structure of its key employees.
As a result, with the “Phantom Liberty” expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 already released, the RPG title of The Witcher franchise, even with ten years of age, emerges as the main commercial asset of CD Projekt Red for this year. Thus, a new adventure in a completely new location would not only rekindle the interest of millions of players, but would also meet this financial demand, creating a scenario of potential commercial success. The change of setting would be radical, as Zerrikania is far from the kingdoms of Temeria, Redania and Ard Skellig, which make up the original game map, following the tradition established by “Blood & Wine” in presenting Toussaint.
What do we know about Zerrikania?
Although never directly explored in Andrzej Sapkowski’s books or in the games, Zerrikania is a region full of intriguing elements that offer total creative freedom for developers. In other words, CD Projekt Red would have carte blanche to build this part of the Continent, since the Polish author created many locations more as background than as main settings for his stories. Furthermore, we know that Zerrikania is famous for its matriarchal culture, advanced practice of alchemy, and, of course, for being the land of dragons – creatures with which Geralt himself already has some familiarity.
These rumors, still not officially confirmed, are based on clues previously left by CDPR itself, such as references to the Manticore Witcher School, located in Zerrikania, which appeared in the “Blood & Wine” expansion. Therefore, while we await an official announcement, the Brazilian gaming community is already beginning to speculate about what an adventure in Zerrikanian lands would be like. Will we finally see dragons more prominently? The answer may come soon, and one thing is certain: the return to the world of The Witcher will always be welcomed with enthusiasm.
