Dragon Ball: Age 1000, a new game in the iconic franchise created by Akira Toriyama, was officially announced during the Genkidamatsuri event, held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. Bandai Namco, in charge of publishing, revealed that the title will arrive on platforms in 2027, featuring an original character conceived by Toriyama himself. The announcement comes amid celebrations for the series’ 40th anniversary, showing the continued vitality of the Goku universe in the global video game market, worth billions worldwide.
According to the development team, the project began some time ago and received special dedication from the creator. “More elements and settings were included in AGE 1000 than in any other past game, and Mr. Toriyama worked hard on it,” the producers said. As such, the game is expected to mark a significant milestone in the history of the franchise’s games, which recently saw major success with Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, selling 3 million copies on its first day.
Brazilian fans will not have to wait until 2027 for more news. That is because new details about Dragon Ball: Age 1000 will be revealed at the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026, an event taking place in the United States on April 18 and 19. The community therefore already has its next milestone for following reveals about the gameplay, the story and, of course, the mysterious new hero designed by Toriyama.
A year of big announcements for fans
The game announcement did not come alone. During the same event, a new anime series was revealed, a direct sequel to Dragon Ball Super adapting the Moro arc.
