Esports World Cup 2026 to feature record US$75 million prize pool

The Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF) officially announced this week the details of the Esports World Cup 2026 (EWC), set to be the biggest competitive event in video game history. Scheduled to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, between July 6 and August 23, 2026, the tournament will feature an impressive US$75 million prize pool, equivalent to about R$375 million at the current exchange rate. This colossal figure, surpassing last year’s total, underscores the financial growth and global importance of esports, drawing more than 2,000 players and 200 clubs from over 100 countries.

The event, already established as the world’s premier stage for digital competition, will have its duration extended to seven weeks. With this, the organization aims to deliver a broader experience for fans and athletes. The main competition, the EWC Club Championship, will alone award US$30 million (approximately R$150 million) among the top 24 clubs. The grand champion will take home US$7 million, about R$35 million, a prize that puts the tournament on par with the biggest traditional sports competitions on the planet.

Confirmed games and new additions

The list of confirmed games for the 2026 edition brings big news for fans. Fortnite and Trackmania are the new additions to the lineup, which already features established titles popular in Brazil. In addition, the program includes Counter-Strike 2, VALORANT, League of Legends, Dota 2 and EA Sports FC 26. Hit mobile games such as Free Fire and PUBG Mobile will also be featured, showcasing the diversity of today’s competitive scene. With this variety, the Esports World Cup cements its role as a unifying event, bringing the world’s leading gaming communities together in a single competition.

The steady growth of the prize pool, up US$3 million in the club championship alone compared to 2025, reflects massive investment and confidence in the future of esports. The expectation is therefore that the 2026 event will break new audience and engagement records. For Brazilian players, this is another chance to shine on the international stage and claim a share of this historic prize. All eyes in the gaming world are already on the Saudi Arabian desert, once again hosting the pinnacle of global digital competition.
