Fortnite Releases Big Heads and Human Riding in April 1st Patch

Epic Games released v40.10 with big heads, finger guns, and riding allies for April Fools’. See all patch notes and balance changes.

**Fortnite** received the v40.10 update this Wednesday, April 1, 2026, bringing the traditional April Fools’ Day chaos to the island. Scheduled to last only 24 hours, the new temporary mode allows players to have giant heads and even carry allies on their shoulders in endless stacks.

While fun dominates the casual modes, Epic Games also applied serious adjustments to weapon balancing and fixed bugs affecting mobile performance. Therefore, if you play competitively, you need to pay attention to changes in bullet spread and shotgun damage.

## April Fools’ Day Mode News (Valid until April 2)

– **Big Heads** – Players get giant heads. Epic had to be creative to adjust this for Peely (Banana).
– **Finger Guns** – Special finger guns that go “pew pew”.
– **Shoulder Riding** – You can climb onto allies’ shoulders and create human stacks.
– **Llama Riding** – Rideable llamas have appeared scattered across the Island.
– **Fall Damage Immunity** – Instead of dying from a fall, the player makes a “splat” sound upon hitting the ground.

## Balance Improvements and Gameplay Adjustments

In addition to the jokes, the v40.10 update brought crucial technical changes. The Chaos Reloader Shotgun, for example, had its damage reduced to balance matches, while the Twin Mag SMG received an improvement in accuracy while moving.

– Chaos Reloader Shotgun
– Body shot damage has been slightly reduced
– Reload speed is now consistent across all rarities
– Mythic version damage now equals Legendary rarity

## Bug Fixes and Technical Issues

– Fixed the bug where the Pizza Slapperoni granted the Slap effect without consuming the slice.
– Players no longer get stuck under the terrain when using the Particle Accelerator.
– Using the zipline near Latte Landing will no longer launch the player without fall damage immunity.

– Hades’ facial expressions now work correctly in the Underworld Anger emote.
– The Overlay trail is available again in the Locker.
– \[Reload\] Morphite weapons now display the correct ammo count in the quick bar.

## Improvements for Fortnite Mobile

Mobile players gained more freedom to customize the interface. Furthermore, reading ranks during matches became clearer on devices with smaller screens.

– **More HUD Slots:** It is now possible to save up to 12 custom layouts in the HUD Layout Tool.
– **Rivalry Ranks:** The rank display is larger and easier to read on any device.
– **Text Chat:** Available again in Fortnite OG matches.
– **Aim Assist:** Fixed the bug where Aim Assist activated on its own with Auto Fire enabled.
– **Notifications:** Adjusted the positioning of XP and mission alerts in Blitz mode so they don’t overlap other widgets.
