Hytale launches Update 2 with necromancy and improved mining

Hytale, the RPG sandbox that launched successfully just a few weeks ago, has just received its second major update in January 2026. Developed by Hypixel Studios, the game, which had a troubled road even with the departure of Riot Games, is evolving at an impressive pace. Update 2, already available for download, brings significant changes to progression and world generation and introduces the first elements of magic, headlined by necromancy. This development speed, which had already surprised with a patch three days after launch, reinforces the team’s commitment to keeping the game relevant and engaging for the Brazilian and global community.

The main focus of this new version is to make the experience more rewarding and less dependent on luck. To do that, the developers completely revised the mining system. Now, pickaxes have their mining speed scaled by quality, while ores appear in greater quantities and with smarter distribution across the map. As a result, gear progression becomes smoother and more predictable, addressing a long-standing community request.

The Grimoire and the Future of Magic

The main attraction of the update, however, is the introduction of necromancy through the Necromancy Grimoire. This rare item, which can be obtained by defeating a Praetorian Skeleton, allows the player to raise up to five minions from a pile of bones. It is a first glimpse of the magic system to come. Simon Collins-Laflamme, CEO of Hypixel, was clear in stating that this is just a fun side objective and does not represent the complete system. The plan is to develop a more robust magic system, with mana and varied spells, in future updates.

Beyond these content additions, Update 2 brings a series of long-awaited quality-of-life improvements. Players finally gained the option to visually hide armor, a widely requested customization feature. The patch also includes several balance adjustments, bug fixes, and stability optimizations, ensuring a more polished experience. With this ongoing, fast support, Hytale shows it is here to stay in the competitive sandbox landscape, earning its place with consistent updates and by listening to its audience.
