January 2026 Anime Calendar: Premieres and Highlights

Anime fans in Brazil are kicking off 2026 with one of the strongest seasons in recent years. January arrives dominated by industry “heavyweights,” delivering the most anticipated sequels of the decade alongside promising new adaptations. Diversity is the highlight: from the supernatural chaos of Jujutsu Kaisen to the melancholic poetry of Frieren, streaming platforms (Crunchyroll, Netflix, and Disney+) will be packed with simulcasts straight from Japan.

Below is the updated calendar with the month’s main releases.

The Big Highlights (Must-Watch)

These are the titles that will dominate conversations on social media:

• Jujutsu Kaisen: Culling Game (Season 3)

  • Premiere: January 8

  • The Hype: The long-awaited adaptation of the “Culling Game” arc. After the Shibuya Incident, the jujutsu world is in collapse and Yuji Itadori enters a deadly tournament orchestrated by Kenjaku. Expect brutal battles and top-tier animation from MAPPA.

• Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End (Season 2)

  • Premiere: January 16

  • The Hype: Hailed as one of the best anime of the modern era, Frieren returns to continue its journey north toward Ende. The new season promises to deepen the lore of magic and introduce new challenges for the elf and her companions, Fern and Stark.

• Fate/strange Fake (TV Series)

  • Premiere: January (date to be confirmed)

  • The Hype: What was supposed to be a special is now a full series. The “Fake” Holy Grail War takes place in the United States (Snowfield), featuring servants that break every conventional rule of the Fate franchise, including a more serious Gilgamesh and the mysterious Watcher class.

Hit Sequels

Beyond the three giants above, January brings the return of established franchises:

• Oshi no Ko (Season 3): The showbiz drama continues, now focusing on denser arcs about Aqua’s revenge and the rise of B-Komachi.

• Hell’s Paradise (Jigokuraku) Season 2: Gabimaru and Sagiri keep exploring the deadly island in search of the Elixir of Life, now facing the Tensen (the island’s immortal rulers).

• Fire Force (Enen no Shouboutai) Season 3: The final season, promising to adapt the manga’s explosive climax and reveal the ultimate secrets behind Spontaneous Human Combustion.

• ‘Tis Time for “Torture,” Princess (Season 2): The lighthearted comedy about the princess who “succumbs” to gastronomic torture returns for more episodes.

Promising New Premieres

For those seeking brand-new stories, these are the month’s best bets:

• Tune In to the Midnight Heart (Mayonaka Heart Tune): A school romantic comedy about a protagonist trying to figure out which of the four girls in the broadcasting club is his old childhood friend.

• The Demon King’s Daughter is Too Kind!: A light and heartwarming (iyashikei) series about the Demon King’s daughter who, ironically, is too kind for the job, leading to comedic situations in the underworld.

• The Holy Grail of Eris: A fantasy mystery in which a young noblewoman makes a pact with the ghost of an executed villainess to survive court intrigue.

• A Gentle Noble’s Vacation Recommendation: A relaxing isekai about a nobleman who decides to enjoy life in another world as if it were an eternal vacation.
