Firefly Wedding Manga Concludes in 2026, But Gets Spin-offs and Anime

The Firefly Wedding manga will end in January 2026, but announces two spin-off stories and an anime adaptation later this year.

**Firefly Wedding**, the manga by Oreco Tachibana, officially came to an end in early 2026. The Manga ONE platform, from publisher Shogakukan, made the final chapter available for early access this Monday, January 12th, with its official release scheduled for February 2nd. Despite the conclusion of the main story, fans don’t have to say goodbye to the characters, as the work will receive two new spin-off stories still in this first quarter of the year. The plot, which follows the noblewoman Satoko and the assassin Shinpei in the Meiji Era, earned a Kodansha award nomination in 2024 and, as a result of this success, will also become an anime in 2026.

The news is highly relevant for fans of shōjo and period narratives, as it shows the life cycle of a successful series. While the main manga concludes, the author is already preparing new stories to expand the universe. In this way, the *Firefly Wedding* universe remains alive in multiple ways. The fifth English physical volume, published by Viz Media, arrives in stores on January 27th, while the 11th volume in Japan is scheduled for February 19th, showing that interest in the title remains strong.

## What to Expect from the Spin-offs and the Anime

Scheduled to debut as early as next month, the first spin-off is called “Koi to Doku” (Love and Poison). Its first part will be released on February 2nd on Manga ONE, with the second part following on March 2nd. Additionally, a second side story titled “Hotaru no Yomeiri Gaiden -Hitokiri to Yōdō-” (Firefly Wedding Spinoff -The Assassin and a Child-) has also been announced. This one will have five chapters, with publication dates to be announced soon. These expansions promise to explore new facets of the tense relationship between Satoko and Shinpei, or even focus on other characters from the world created by Tachibana.

For fans who prefer to follow the story in Portuguese, there is no confirmed national publication yet. However, the series is available digitally in English through the Comikey and Viz Media services. The anime adaptation, which is set to bring the intense marriage-at-knifepoint premise to screens, is scheduled to premiere in October of this year. Therefore, 2026 promises to be a year full of news for followers of the work, who will be able to relive the main story in a new way and delve deeper into the universe with new content.
