Netflix and Sony Pictures are strengthening their strategic partnership in 2026, bringing a wave of major productions to the streaming service’s catalog in Brazil. The deal, already in force in the United States since 2022, is now expanding globally, giving Brazilian subscribers access to hit films shortly after they leave theaters. This release window, known as Pay-1, is the first phase in which a title becomes available for streaming, which means fans will be able to watch Sony premieres faster and more conveniently.
Starting in January 2026, a series of titles begins arriving on the platform, while others leave as the contract cycle turns over. The list ranges from blockbusters such as “Venom: The Last Dance” and “Kraven the Hunter” to acclaimed comedies and independent dramas. In addition, thanks to the new global deal, the catalog should become even stronger from 2027 onward, with anticipated productions such as the adaptation of “The Legend of Zelda.”
Key 2026 Premieres and Departures
The 2026 calendar is busy. While films such as “The Teachers’ Lounge” and “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” leave the platform in January, premieres kick off at full speed. One of the first major attractions is “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey,” a romantic comedy starring Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell, arriving on January 17. Soon after, action and horror fans can look forward to “Sisu: Road to Revenge” in March and the sequel “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple” in May.
The heaviest bets, however, land in the second half of the year. Slated for a November premiere, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” with Tom Holland back as the web-slinger, promises to be one of the biggest highlights. The comedy “Anaconda,” starring Jack Black, and the thriller “Shiver” are also on the waiting list. It is worth noting that these dates are estimates and may change, but the year’s content pipeline is already set.
The Future of the Partnership and Upcoming Attractions
Looking beyond 2026, the partnership between Netflix and Sony Pictures promises to bring even more iconic franchises to streaming. The live-action adaptation of “The Legend of Zelda,” for example, is scheduled to open in theaters in 2027 and should reach the service a few months later. Likewise, the follow-up to the acclaimed animated film “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” and the new “Jumanji” movie are on the radar for the coming years.
This expansion of the deal therefore represents a major move in the Brazilian streaming market, cementing Netflix as a main hub for big-studio films shortly after their theatrical runs. Subscribers have plenty to celebrate, with a steady flow of new additions ranging from major action productions to award-winning dramas and family-friendly animation, all at no extra cost on the monthly subscription.
