The network FX has officially announced five major new additions to the cast of the Far Cry live-action series, expanding the production to eight confirmed lead actors. The project brings Ubisoft’s acclaimed first-person shooter franchise to television, adopting an anthology structure focused on clashes against tyrannical regimes.

Among the new additions are Oscar nominees Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin, Harry Potter franchise) and Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight, Fargo). The group also welcomes Hamish Linklater (Midnight Mass), Sam Spruell (Alien: Earth) and Jamie Demetriou (Stath Lets Flats), rounding out a team with strong dramatic and comedic credentials.

The new names join a trio that had already been generating buzz among the gaming community and series fans. Rob McElhenney (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Mythic Quest), Lizzy Caplan (Masters of Sex) and veteran Steve Buscemi (Boardwalk Empire) had already secured prominent roles in the production.

The big creative draw is the leadership of Noah Hawley, the award-winning showrunner behind the acclaimed Fargo and Alien: Earth. Hawley shares executive producing duties directly with Rob McElhenney, designing a structure that faithfully reflects the identity Ubisoft built on consoles and PC.

Following Fargo’s proven model, each season will stand alone, set in a distinct geographic region and following a rebellion against a ruthless dictator. The approach honors the franchise’s own evolution in video games, where each numbered entry transports players to tropical archipelagos, mountain valleys or Caribbean islands under tyrannical rule.

Launched in 2004 and amassing more than 100 million players worldwide, the Far Cry saga saw its latest mainline release in 2021 with Far Cry 6. The brand already went through a 2008 film adaptation directed by Uwe Boll and, more recently, inspired the animated Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix on Netflix.

The series will officially air on FX channels and stream on Hulu in the United States. For Brazilian and international audiences, it is confirmed for the Disney+ catalog, with the filming schedule and official premiere date still awaiting announcement by Disney.
