Universal Pictures finally revealed the fate of the Toretto family this Sunday, February 1, 2026. The next film in the Fast & Furious franchise has just received the official title of Fast Forever and will hit theaters with a scheduled release for March 17, 2028. The feature follows the events of Fast X, released in 2023, and promises to be the definitive chapter of the main storyline.
Although the sequel was initially planned for 2025, the studio chose to delay the release to fine-tune the script and production. Vin Diesel, the star behind Dominic Toretto, celebrated the news on his social media with a photo alongside the late Paul Walker. According to the actor, the new film represents a legacy that lasts forever, reinforcing that this will be the closing of the epic journey that began in 2001.
Back to Its Roots and Brian O’Conner’s Farewell
During recent events, Diesel stated that the grand finale will bring the franchise back to car culture and the original street racing. In addition, the actor hinted at an emotional reunion between Dom and Brian, Walker’s character. Through the use of CGI technology and body doubles, such as Paul’s brothers, the production is expected to bring the character back for a fitting farewell at the close of the main narrative.
The Numbers Behind a Billion-Dollar Franchise
With more than R$35 billion grossed worldwide since its debut, the saga has established itself as one of the biggest phenomena in cinema. Fast Forever is expected to bring back heavyweights such as Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris, along with possible returns from Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham. Universal is thus setting the stage for what it calls a “celebration of family,” blending nostalgia with the adrenaline that has defined generations of fans in Brazil and around the world.
