The Prince Vegeta is today one of Dragon Ball’s most beloved heroes, but his journey in Dragon Ball Z was marked by unforgivable crimes. While in February 2026 we celebrate his growth as a father and Goku’s ally, we cannot forget that the warrior walked a path of blood and arrogance. His obsession with surpassing Kakarot drove him to disastrous decisions that nearly wiped out Earth and other planets.
From his triumphant arrival in the Saiyan Saga, Vegeta showed absolute disregard for the lives of others. Even after beginning his turn to the side of good, his wounded pride frequently spoke louder than his morality. Below, we list the character’s darkest moments, which defined just how cruel he could be before his final redemption.
Vegeta’s 5 Worst Acts in Dragon Ball Z
- 1) Exterminating a village on Namek: In his frantic search for the Dragon Balls, Vegeta massacred an entire village of innocent Namekians, including elders and children. The cruelest detail is that these victims were never revived, since the wish made on the Dragon Balls covered only those killed by Frieza and his soldiers — and Vegeta was already acting on his own at that point.
- 2) Massacring civilians at the World Martial Arts Tournament: To force Goku to accept a duel, Vegeta let Babidi take over his mind and fired an attack into the tournament stands. The blast killed hundreds of innocent spectators in cold blood, only to satisfy his wounded ego.
- 3) Helping Cell reach his Perfect Form: Out of pure arrogance, Vegeta ignored Future Trunks’ pleas and allowed Cell to absorb Android 18. He wanted to test his new powers against a worthy adversary, but the result was the birth of a monster that nearly destroyed the solar system.
- 4) Becoming Majin Vegeta by choice: Although he could resist Babidi’s mind control, the Prince accepted the Majin mark solely to gain a power boost. That selfish decision released enough energy to awaken Majin Buu, the villain who would go on to exterminate nearly all of humanity.
- 5) Total disregard for his family at first: Shortly after Trunks was born, Vegeta showed not the slightest affection for Bulma or the baby. He neglected them both for years, focusing only on his training, and it took him nearly a decade to give his own son his first hug.
Despite these terrible acts, Akira Toriyama’s writing allowed Vegeta to grow into a three-dimensional character. Today, he carries the weight of his past actions as he fights to protect the universe, proving that even the proudest of villains can find the light.
